Saturday 19 June 2010 - West End Carnival Committee organised another successful event for the village, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Thanks to the the Chair Steve Broomfield and the rest of the committee

The Sealed Knot - civil war re-enactors who camped out over the week-end on Hatch Grange leaving the Parish Centre to march to Barbe Baker Avenue to head up the parade.

April 24th - The Centre was the location for the 80' music scene with the ban Blown Out playing a range of music. Around 100 people enjoyed the evening which was a joint fund raising event for the West End Pre-school and Hilldene Community Centre. Both committees would like to thank all who supported the event.

April 17th - the Management Committee welcomed members of the local community to the Centre for light refreshments and a look round the Centre. Much work has been carried out since the launch of the Hilldene Renovation Project in May 2009 and the committee wanted to share with the community the completed work as well as the targets for the coming year. Also present were local Paris, Borough and County Councillors as well as Jon Riddell the HEWEB Co-Ordinator and users of the Centre.

April sees the start of the long awaited work on Centre Bell Tower. Scaffolding has gone up and the work will commence in the next few days.

We are now waiting on the new tower to be put into position, as you can see a replacement was long overdue. The weather vane is also being refurbished to go back into position.

West End Pre-School open their new playground for the children on the 31 March 2010. The opening was performed by Mrs Zena Ramplee who retired from the -Pre-School in 2009. The opening was also attended by Chris Huhne MP, Hampshire County Councillor Bruce Tennant and Eastleigh Borough Councillor Tony Noyce.

Martial arts classes starting soon at Hilldene on Friday evenings, watch this space for further information.
Grant from Eastleigh Borough Council (EBC)
The Centre was awarded a grant of £20,000 by Eastleigh Borough Council HEWEB (Hedge End, West End and Botley) committee. Using the grant new boliers have been installed to make the heating more efficient and economical to run. An order has also been placed via EBC to replace the bell tower which is in desperate need of repair.
