About Us  .............

The centre offers space to over twenty groups as well as being available for hire for a variety of different uses. The centre is managed by a small but enthusiastic volunteer management committee who are keen to expand on its use.

The Management committee are keen to maintain the character of this lovely old building and provide excellent facilities to West End and the local area.  This year we are embarking on a campaign, the Hilldene Renovation Project, to raise at least £150,000.00 to do some of the basics things to the building, refurbishment and redecoration, a new roof, renovate the Bell Tower, replace windows and doors.  If you are able to help in anyway by either fund raising, donating time to help decorate, or even have ideas on how we can reach our target, please contact the Chairman on chairman@hilldenecommunity.co.uk

Hilldene's History

The Hilldene Community Association was originally formed in 1964 with the aim of establishing a community centre in which local residents could meet and enjoy varied activities.

The Edwardian building started life as St James School in 1903 and in 1975 it became the Hilldene Infants School.

The Community Association finally achieved their dream of running their own centre in 1987 but this was just the next stage, the building was in need of some tlc and it took another 2 years of hard work and 24 years of fund raising for the main aim of the association to be achieved.
